Kazakhstan’s Deputy Minister of Transport Maksat Kaliakparov participated in the first Kazakhstan-Netherlands Business Council, held today in Astana, where he discussed plans to develop transport infrastructure and increase container shipping volumes.
“The Kazakhstan-Netherlands Business Council is a key platform for strengthening cooperation between our countries. I am pleased to note that our partnership continues to grow. This event not only underscores the importance of our collaboration but also highlights our shared commitment to transforming the Trans-Caspian International Corridor into a modern, multimodal, and efficient route with the shortest delivery times. In the first eight months of this year, cargo transport through the Middle Corridor increased by 69%. Notably, container shipping along the China-Europe-China route reached 20,000 TEUs (twenty-foot equivalent units), a 20-fold increase. Furthermore, during the first meeting of the working group on the development of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR), an agreement was reached to increase the number of container trains to 600 per year,” said Maksat Kaliakparov.
He added that by 2030, the aim is to boost these figures to 10 million tons annually, including 500,000 containers.
“Kazakhstan plays a key role in transit routes, and we are committed to enhancing our position in global logistics. To achieve this, efforts are underway to improve transportation infrastructure, enabling faster cargo delivery, attracting investment, and stimulating trade in the region,” added the deputy minister.
